As a woman, you face a unique set of mental health challenges, which can affect you physically, emotionally, and your happiness/mental health. These effects can be mild or they can be far more challenging and difficult to cope with without help. Being a woman comes with its own set of unique needs for therapy. Many women share counseling is a place to feel heard and validated, to fully open up without feeling judged or being told “all will be okay” or “perhaps you should smile more” or “be nicer to him.” You are not living in the same world as your mothers and grandmothers, and it can be difficult to find someone to trust with your story who won’t judge you for not being their version of a woman. Counseling for women is a safe place where you can open up about your challenges.
